About Ultimate Accents Hand Painted Furniture
Our factories produce their own raw case pieces. Generally the case is made of MDF (medium density fiberboard) with solid wood legs. The piece is covered with a layer of white gesso and is sanded. Gesso (in layman’s terms) is a kind of plaster. Gesso has been used in furniture production since the 18th century. It provides a smooth even surface for the paint application. The piece now goes to the artists who apply the primary base and hand painted design. All of our pieces are individually hand painted; there are no airbrushes or stencils used in the production of Ultimate Accents product. All pieces are completely assembled during the painting and finishing process. After the piece is completely painted, it will be distressed if applicable. Finally an application of darkening solutions and acrylic topcoats is applied that gives the piece its patina and character. All of these stages are done by hand so allowances must be made for the variations that will occur from piece to piece. Changes in the weather or the temperature will affect the end results. We think you will agree that these differences are what makes each piece it’s own unique work of art.
